Backing Up Your Data
Anytime your device connects to the internet, it backs up your information to the cloud. As this information uploads, it becomes available on your Change Dashboard and can be downloaded onto a new device if something happens to your current device.
The information that is backed up to the cloud:
- Session and Till Information
- Order Information
- Payment Information
- Departments and Tax Rates
- Items
- Modifiers
- Screen Layout
- Groups
- Payment Label Settings
- Receipt Settings
- Account Details
If at any point your device loses connection with the internet, your data remains stored on the device until it can connect to a network again later on. It will continue to sync where it left off.
Syncing Between Devices
When multiple devices are signed into the same account, several things sync among them:
- Departments and Tax Rates
- Items
- Modifiers
- Screen Layout
- Groups
- Payment Label Settings
- Receipt Settings
- Account Settings
When you make changes to any of this information on a device, it is dispersed to the other devices on the same account. However, devices must be connected to the internet in order for these changes to sync.
Information that DOES NOT currently sync among devices.
- Session and Till Information
- Order Information
- Payment Information
- Open Orders
- Printer Configurations
- Staff Accounts
Syncing and Back Up Status
To check the status of your sync and backup, a Status Bar is located at the top of the Order Journal on the Order Screen.
Syncing To New Devices
When you log into a new device for the first time with your Change account, it will need to download all the information and settings from your account. Depending on how much information is on your account, this may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.
We recommend giving yourself enough time to download all your information before you open. Make sure your device is connected to the internet, plugged in, and that Change is left open.
Restoring Devices
If you're restoring a device that you've used Change on in the past, there may be some residual data on the device that could cause problems.
To make sure your transition is smooth, we recommend contacting us before proceeding.
